1. What are the rules for applying for tickets?
- You need to be a Kent or Medway resident.
- You need to be over 18.
Please check the terms and conditions and that you are free on the date you are applying for.
You will also need access to a printer as if you are successful you will be emailed your tickets to print out.
Please note that applying does not guarantee tickets.
2. How does the application work?
- You have until 13 February 2012 to apply for tickets. The application window will close at Midnight on 13 February 2012.
- You can only apply for a maximum of two tickets per attraction per household.
- After this time all applications will be entered into a ballot.
- Tickets will not be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
This gives everyone a fair chance to apply and enables as many people as possible to participate.
With so many venues to choose from you can take your time to browse what is on offer, learn about new attractions and discover hidden treasures before submitting your application.
3. How do I apply for a ticket?
It could not be simpler. There are three steps:
1. Find an attraction you’d like to visit
- Take your time and browse the different offers available – My Kent Big Weekend is an opportunity for you to try something new.
- You can search in different ways – by the attraction name, by what is closest to you or by category.
- Once you have found something you are interested in applying for, check the details, opening times, terms and conditions. This is a very popular event so please be considerate and do not apply for anything that you may not be able to take up if successful.
2. Decide which day you want tickets for
- Most attractions are offering tickets on Saturday 17 March and/or Sunday 18 March. Some venues, because they are not open on these days, are offering alternative dates. Check the details and date before applying.
3. Enter your details for the chance to receive free tickets
- To apply for tickets, you need to create a My Kent account.
- Then you select if you want to apply for one or two tickets. You can only apply for two tickets per attraction per household. This is because we want as many Kent residents as possible to benefit from the day.
- Confirm you agree with the terms and conditions and press apply.
- Please note that entering the random ballot does not guarantee tickets.
4. How many tickets can I apply for?
- You may apply for as many attractions as you want but only a maximum of two tickets per attraction can be applied for, and only a maximum of two tickets per household will be allocated. This is because we want as many Kent residents to benefit from the event as possible.
- Please think carefully before you apply - are you free on that day, can you get to the attraction, are you genuinely interested in going to that attraction? This event is very popular and it would be a shame if you were successful in receiving tickets which you then did not use.
5. What if I do not have access to the website?
- You can apply for tickets via your Visitor Information Centres. To find your closest VIC click here. Please note that because the Centres can be busy we ask you to limit your application request to ten different venues.
- Don’t forget, you can access the website at many libraries. To find your closest one, go to www.kent.gov.uk/KCC.Libraries.Web.Sites.Public/Default.aspx
6. What can I do if I have a problem with the website?
- If you have any queries or problems using the Big Weekend website, please contact 01843 577 577 (Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm) or email mykentbigweekend@visitkent.co.uk
7. How are tickets allocated?
- To make the allocation of tickets fair we are operating a random ballot.
- You can enter for My Kent Big Weekend tickets any time before 13 February 2012. The ballot closes at Midnight on 13 February 2012.
- An automated and random process will run to ensure the fairest possible allocation of tickets. The aim of the ballot is to maximise the number of different Kent residents who are allocated tickets.
- You may apply for as many attractions as you want but only a maximum of two tickets per household will be allocated.
- Please note that entering the random ballot does not guarantee tickets.
8. When will I know if I have been successful in applying for tickets?
- All entrants will be notified by email if they are successful or not by 29 February 2012.
- Those who are successful will be emailed a link to download and print their tickets.
- To access your tickets you will need to enter your email address and My Kent password.
- Venues are notified of those who have been successful and may ask for identification as well as your ticket.
Please note, you will need access to a printer to print out your tickets if you are successful. If this is a problem please contact 01843 577 577 (Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm) or email mykentbigweekend@visitkent.co.uk and if there is time we may be able to arrange for them to be posted.
If you have forgotten your My Kent password do not worry. Simply select Forgotten Password and you will be sent an email to reset it.
9. What happens if I forget my account details?
If you have forgotten your password for your account, simply click on 'Login/Register' on the homepage and then click on the 'Forgot Your Password?' link on the login page. You will be asked to enter the email address used when creating your account. An automated email will be sent to this address, if it is in our database, containing a password reset link.
